From the Chancellor
One of the pleasures of serving as chancellor of NC State University is seeing how enthusiastically and effectively our faculty, staff, students and donors are working to advance this remarkable institution of higher education.
I’m not the only one who’s noticed the rapid progress we’ve made in recent years to advance interdisciplinary innovation and solution-driven research. The journal Nature has placed NC State among the “Rising Stars” of scientific research, a ranking based on the Nature Index, a data-rich analysis of more than 8,000 global institutions. Although we face resource challenges common to public universities, NC State is third in North America and 31st worldwide for the accelerating pace of our research output.
It’s confirmation that the patient, strategic investments we’ve made over the past few years to attract and support world-leading faculty and high-performing students are paying off handsomely.
