From the Chancellor
Every day I’m excited to learn about new developments in the solution-driven research and scholarship being produced here at NC State University.
And I’m not the only one taking notice. U.S. News & World Report ranked us the No. 5 best value among public universities nationally, and many of our colleges and programs are top-10 rated, including engineering, business, veterinary medicine and natural resources. What’s more, 11 of our graduate programs rank among the top 30 in their respective fields.
Much of our success stems from the work of our world-leading faculty. The Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program groups faculty members in 20 interdisciplinary clusters that tackle the grand challenges facing society. We’re also driving educational innovation, and as a result our retention rates, graduation rates and time to degree continue to improve. Not only are we educating more students, they’re graduating with less debt.

As a result, we’ve seen more partnerships with the public and private sectors, consistent funding for groundbreaking research and increased commitments from private donors. In fact, NC State received $224.8 million in gifts and new commitments in the 2017 fiscal year — the highest total in university history, and a 39 percent increase over the previous year.
