TIP: Toward Inclusive Practices
 

This TIP (“Toward Inclusive Practices”) message from the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity provides information about an option for NC State employees to fulfill their DEI training requirement by taking two EverFi online training modules. Graduate students may also register for these modules (listed below).

Undergraduate students may register to take the EverFi module, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Students.

Foundational-Level DEI Training for Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students 

NC State now has two EverFi training modules for faculty, staff and graduate students that can help lay the foundation for furthering your knowledge on current diversity, equity and inclusion topics. These online training modules feature bite-sized content, interactive scenarios and real-life professional examples.

What are the EverFi modules for faculty, staff and graduate students?

The modules offered through EverFi are:

  1. Managing Bias
  2. Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace

Managing Bias defines and describes how bias affects the workplace and encourages learners to use that knowledge to reduce the negative effects of bias. Inclusion in the Modern Workplace discusses power, communication, identity and privilege through the unique experiences of real people. It also emphasizes the importance of a respectful working environment and barriers that prevent full participation.

Bonus: Completion of the EverFi modules in REPORTER satisfies the DEI requirement for your annual EHRA/SHRA performance plan.

How do I register for EverFi?

Log in to REPORTER with your Unity ID. On the left side, select “Catalog” to search for OIED-DI-013 for Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace and OIED-DI-014 for Managing Bias. Select “Add to cart” then “Proceed to order summary” to check out.

What if I don’t see the two modules in EverFi?

If you don’t see the modules in EverFi, you may not have been added yet. You should see the modules within 60 days of being hired, or you can email inclusive-excellence@ncsu.edu to get access.

Are these modules required for NC State employees?

Currently, the EverFi modules are not required for employees but are highly recommended. However, employees have a DEI requirement for their annual performance plan that can be satisfied in a variety of ways.

How do I check to see if I completed these modules already?

Log into REPORTER and view your training summary. The module(s) may be listed as either OIED-DI-013-014, Inclusion in the Modern Workplace and Managing Bias or as two separate courses, OIED-DI-013, Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace and OIED-DI-014, Managing Bias.
