College of Natural Resources Raises Over $41.5M During Think and Do Fundraising Campaign
The College of Natural Resources has raised more than $41.5 million as part of the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign, surpassing its goal of $35 million. NC State publicly launched the $1.6 billion fundraising campaign, the largest and most ambitious in its history, in October 2016. The campaign ended in December 2021.

In total, more than 5,300 donors gave $41,564,020 to the college. More than 180 of those donors gave $25,000 or more, with the single largest gift totaling $7 million. The funds provided scholarships for students, research funding for faculty, and much more.

The Ocean Advocacy Workshop
 
Join us for a very special, 2 day (overnight), designed for students and community members who care about our oceans and want to be active in their protection. Hear from Environmental, Wildlife, Ocean Science experts, and friends at a 2 day retreat at the Haw River State Park! Also gain an Ocean Advocacy Workshop Certificate! More info: The Ocean Advocacy Workshop (OAW) will be held at The Haw River Summit Conference Center near Greensboro on March 25 & 26th! The first-ever of its kind, participants will learn about issues impacting our oceans and how to take action to make a difference. Learn how to become an advocate and meet others who share your enthusiasm for oceans! The OAW is being underwritten by sponsoring organizations to keep participant costs low. Students may register for $25 or apply for free registration here. Student registration covers cabin lodging, food, registration materials, and all sessions. Registration costs for community members is $40, and covers all the above except lodging. Click here to register. The 15th Annual NC State University Graduate Student Research Symposium
 
The 15th Annual NC State University Graduate Student Research Symposium will be held in the Jane S. McKimmon Center on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. The poster session will be from 1:30pm to 4:00pm. This year, there will be approximately 200 poster presentations representing research being conducted in 68 graduate programs from all colleges. This event is co-sponsored and organized by the Graduate Student Association and the Graduate School. The primary goal of the symposium is to showcase the outstanding quality and diversity of graduate research at NC State. This is a great opportunity for all to take a look at the interesting research projects being conducted at the graduate level. Undergraduates who are interested in applying to graduate school will certainly benefit from talking to our graduate students about their research, and perhaps getting ideas as to how to present their research at conferences where they may participate in the future. The Symposium is open to the public! Parking is plentiful and free at McKimmon. Further information is available on the Symposium Web Site. How Will the Spotted Lanternfly Impact North Carolina?
 
The spotted lanternfly is a nonnative, invasive planthopper originally found in China, Taiwan and Vietnam. It poses significant threats to agriculture and tourism, and has been known to attack over 70 woody plant species.

The insect was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014, and has since spread to surrounding states. A population was recently found in Hillsville, Virginia, 20 miles from the Virginia-North Carolina border.
